However you feel about Valentine's is up to you -- it's silly, superfluous, yet a downright terrific excuse to make a bunch of collage cards (one of my favorite things to do on this Earth!). I love snail mail -- so I'm pretty much enamored with this part of I love you day.
And I will say, being a grown up sure beats the elementary school Valentine's box where everyone gathered to see who received the most love notes and hershey kisses -- very important measures of 'coolness' at age 8. How I longed to fill my sticker-encrusted shoe box up the the brim with adoration! Even though I went to a Montessori, where fairness and love ("if you're going to give out Valentine's cards, you have to bring one for every person in the class") were stressed above all else, there was always the kid-powered affection competition. We are ruthless little beings!
Perhaps my card-making stamina stems from these strange school-day insecurities?
Whatever! Life is so funny.
Gorgeous little handmade lovelies!
